Today is my 44th birthday, and while I am thankful for my life, on this day I am more thankful for the new life that I have worked so hard to achieve. I lost sixty pounds over the last six years, but more importantly, I have changed my lifestyle for the better forever. In the process, my entire family has benefitted by the healthy meals we now prepare, by our example of not making excuses for why we can’t find time in our busy days to exercise, and our extra energy allows us to actually spend quality time with our kids.
Four weeks ago, I set a goal of finally breaking my plateau. I charted my steps including daily water intake, exercise, and tracking (or lack of tracking). I upped my weekly exercise from three to five days including adding some cross training in the form of bike rides with my husband. No matter the outcome, I have given myself the best birthday present ever…I have made myself a priority. I “get the great privilege” of working out five days a week, I eat delicious healthy meals thanks to Hungry Girl, Joy Bauer, and Weight Watchers, and my wonderful husband Sean, and I am so hydrated my skin and hair are practically glowing. What more could I want?
So in this, my 44th year of life, I plan to continue to take the bull by the horns. I see more half marathons in my future and maybe even a triathlon with all the biking and swimming I am adding to my routine. As long as I have my family and friends cheering me on from the sidelines, this girl will reach her most flabulous self ever before her 45th birthday. Happy birthday to me!
By the way, I did make my birthday goal---today I weighed in at 169.5
